Acting Workshops Immersion! Saturdays (10 am-4 pm)

Mastering the Monologue (102) January 12th and February 2nd Instructor Heather Day

A 6 hour intensive class students will learn the preparation of a monologue to be used in an audition format to captivate a director or for a play to draw in an audience. Students are required to come with a prepared monologue, comfortable clothing and an open mind. *note( a monologue can be provided upon request prior to the start date of workshop)

Relation to Character (105) January 19th and February 23rd Instructor Heather Day

A 6 hour intensive course students will explore how their character relates to others. The focus will be on the who, what and why the character acts, behaves in the way in which they do. We will be creating a mini psychological profile to develop a fully dimensional character.

Scene Study: The Breakdown (106) March 8th Instructor Heather Day

In this 6 hour intensive and interactive course students will explore through dialogue and performance the intention of the scene and the art of reading between the lines, taking from and performing an one act play.

Impressions of Improv,(104) Instructor Mandi Gagon (TBA)

In a 6 hour intensive class students will learn how to think on their feet in every situation. Through dramatic games and improvisational exercises. Which can be applied to the stage or every day life A great foundation for anyone who has an interest in theatre and public speaking.

Screen a Scene Study (107) (2 part workshop) Instructor Tammy Gibbons (TBA)( 7-10 pm)

With scenes taken from popular t.v shows and movies In this a 2 part 6 hour intensive course students will explore through dialogue and performance the intention of the scene and the art of reading between the lines. Fee 115$ Note discount's offer for early sign up!

Course Descriptions

An Entrance Into Acting 101 (Beginners) Fee-150.00$

The Development of the Actor - Here the basics to performance will be explored which will include:

  • Speech: warming up the voice annunciation and projection.
  • Movement: warming up the body with stretches.
  • Improvisation: tapping the spontaneous creative mind through improvisational theater techniques.
  • Monologue study: an introduction into memorizing the written word, the development of character and performance.

This is a 6-week course designed for those with little to no acting experience, or for those who feel they need acting tools to give them an edge. Techniques influenced from Stanislavski and Hagen. There will be some out of class assignments. A showcase for friends and family will be presented at the end of the class cycle.

A Deeper Interlude Into Acting 201 (Intermediate) Fee-150.00$

The Preparation of the Actor - Building on skills that were introduced in Acting (101) with techniques to prepare for the stage performance, which will include;

  • Speech: warming up the voice annunciation and projection.
  • Movement: warming up the body with stretches.
  • Improvisation: warming up the spontaneous creative mind through improvisational theater techniques.
  • Scene study: learning the lines, making an entrance, living in the moment, working off the other actor, visualizing space.
  • Creating character: speech patterns, intention, psychological profile, movement and costume.

This is a 6-week course. Designed for those who have a limited knowledge of stage, who would like to advance their technique. Students will be encouraged to develop as an interconnected troop, which will enable them to work as an ensemble. The class focus will be creating believable moments in image circumstances. Students will learn a scene from a popular play. Techniques influenced from Stanislavski, Hagen, Mamet and an introduction to Meisner. There will be some out of class assignments. A showcase for friends and family will be presented at the end of the class cycle.
